Toxic epidermal necrolysis is the most severe form of bullous skin diseases. They are classified

(excluding MEE) into three clinical variants according to the affected body surface area: 1) less thаn 10% of body surface area – SJS, 2) 10% to 30% of body surface area – SJS or partial TEN, 3) more than 30% – TEN. Medications are one of the most common causes of TEN. Mortality due to TEN can reach up to 12,5%. Combined use of IVIG and steroids might be an effective treatment of TEN. Here we discuss a case of TEN in 12 year old girl following 14 days of sulfasalazine administration for ulcerative colitis. The disease progressed through three stages: from MEE to SJS and subsequently to TEN. Combined therapy with IVIG and systemic steroids resulted in positive therapeutic effect.
