Complement — a system of serum proteins involved in the regulation of inflammation, the activation of phagocytes and the lysis of cell membranes. It is the basis of the body’s defenses. The complement is a logical, precisely balanced and responsive to many effects system, which is of paramount importance for the clinical manifestations of inflammatory reactions. This article considers the composition of the complement system and the ways of its activation.
